Increasing Earthquake Activity Along South American Coast

April 8, 2013. The past 48 hours has seen an increase in earthquake activity on the Ring of Fire along the coast of South America. On April 7 and 8, 2013, the following earthquakes occurred, and many of these may signal an increase in volcanic activity in these regions:

  4. 4.3 Jiquiliilo, Nicaragua
  5. 4.8 Coquimbo, Chili
  6. 4.3 Acajutia, El Salvador
  7. 4.2 Pueblo Nuevo, Peru
