Earthquake Swarm Continues in Iran

In the early morning on April 9, 2013, six large earthquakes struck Iran along the coast of the Persian Gulf next to Iran’s only nuclear power plant. The first quake registered a 6.3 magnitude, and within a 90 minute time span, this 6.3 was followed by a 5.4 quake, two 4.7 earthquakes, a 4.2, and a 4.8 quake. I warned to be on the look out for more earthquakes to occur in this region, and that’s just what happened.

Between April 9th and 10th

After the 4.8 quake occurred (recorded in my first blog post on April 9, 2013 at 8:30 AM CST), a second 4.8 quake occurred one hour later. Since then, 22 earthquakes over 5.0 magnitude have rattled this region in Iran in less than 24 hours.

The EQ Swarm

The following earthquakes have occurred within an 18 mile radius of one another on Iran’s Persian Gulf coast in the past 24 hours:

4.8 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  9:45 AM CST

4.2 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  10:04 AM CST

4.7 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  11:32 AM CST

4.4 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  12:21 PM CST

4.3 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  1:59 PM CST

4.4 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran (5 miles from Firuzabad, Iran)  2:09 PM CST

4.6 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  3:05 PM CST

4.8 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  3:54 PM CST

4.1 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  4:17 PM CST

4.4 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  4:54 PM CST

4.2 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  6:34 PM CST

4.9 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  8:01 PM CST

5.6 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  8:57 PM CST

4.3 magnitude Borozjan, Iran (18 miles from Bandar Bushehr, Iran)  1:17 AM CST

4.8 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  2:10 AM CST

5.2 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  3:00 AM CST

4.1 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  4:29 AM CST

4.6 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  7:39 AM CST

4.3 magnitude Firuzabad, Iran  11:53 AM CST

4.0 magnitude Bandar Bushehr, Iran  6:36 PM CST

4.8 magnitude Borozjan, Iran  9:03 PM CST

These are NOT aftershocks – this is an earthquake swarm signaling major Earth movement in the Persian Gulf next to a nuclear power plant.
