Grow Your Own Food – Throw It On Your Lawn And Pin It To The Wall

Try to grow your veggies at home.

Whether you live in the country or in an urban area, you can grow your own food and cut your grocery bill down.

Start With Composting

Remember the old saying from ashes to ashes … well, there’s some wisdom here.

Humans need to take a tip from the Earth  – Nature recycles EVERYTHING.

NOTHING goes to waste on this magnificent planet. From amebas to insects to mammals, humans are merely one of a plethora of species living on Earth, and when you study Biology and Earth Science, you will learn that NO animal wastes anything.

The carcasses of animals go back into the Earth, restoring nutrients and minerals into the soil, plants decompose and reseed, trees create their own compost and mulch, and even forest fires have a place in the Cycle of Life.

It seems that today, we have forgotten to return to the Earth what we have taken away. So start putting your waste back into the Earth’s natural cycles, and compost.

It’s easy to compost no matter where you live.

Shred or cut your fruits and vegetable wastes into small pieces and throw them onto your lawn. It doesn’t matter if you mow over them – their seeds and fibers will recycle, and they will contribute to a healthy root matrix.

Who knows, one day these seeds may help restore the planet.

Most of you know that I live on a wildlife preserve, and most of you know that I am a college professor teaching Earth Science and have a website teaching ways that we can make our future better for all life on Earth.

My passions are my lifestyle, and I have some tips to share that I use on my wildlife preserve to help you conserve wherever you live – urban or rural.

Country Composting

a country compost pile

Use compost in your garden as opposed to chemical fertilizers.

Obviously, it is easy to compost in the country. Pick a spot away from your house or barn so the critters will focus on the compost pile as opposed to “sheltered housing.”

In the country, you don’t have to worry about compost bins or containers because the wild animals, insects, snakes, and birds will participate in the composting process.

Include Nature to access your organic food and grass wastes, and this will help decompose them and reseed them. Notice how many butterflies, dragonflies, and bees your compost pile will attract, and encourage these pollinators into your garden.

Urban Composting

If you live in an urban housing development, composting is a little trickier because it can attract raccoons, possums, and skunks. These critters have a tendency to freak-out urbanites, and at the end of the day, these wild little guys get run over or killed.

So building or purchasing a composter that is contained with a lid is recommended.

Compost and add organic waste to your home garden.

Be picky when you design or buy a composter for your neighborhood backyard because you want to be able to turn your compost at least once a week. This will accelerate the decomposition process, and you can begin filling your flower beds or patchy bald spots in the grass sooner than later.

Inner-City Composting

If you live in a downtown urban condo, composting is a great way to get to know your neighbors because you can start a garden and compost program on the top of your building or on your terrace. You must have a container for your kitchen waste, and a place to store your compost before it’s ready to use to avoid an insect or rodent problem.

Inner-city composting is really important, though. When programs like this are started in an apartment building community, people can actually start growing their own fruits and vegetables and recycle their waste at the same time.

Neighbors get to know one another, and before you know it, you have access to organic foods, you are saving money, and you actually are giving something back to Nature for very little money.

You can grow veggies on your wall or balcony if you live in a condo in an inner city.

The Next Generation

Teaching kids to garden and to compost has HUGE positive outcomes. Just the act of composting teaches children about the Cycles of Nature, and it teaches the differences between organic foods and manufactured, fake GMOS.

Composting gives children something to do besides texting or watching TV. Gardening creates a sense of accomplishment, gets the kids outside, and is cheap entertainment.

Our next generation is facing a manmade food crisis, and when they learn that this crisis really isn’t a crisis at all, the solutions appear right in front of you.

Composting is awesome – try a home garden with no chemicals.

Outdated Lawmakers Cause An Outdated Power Grid

A line of wooden power poles.
Our power grid is antiquated beyond its limits.

Here’s a reality check when the power goes off – life must go on and we all need to figure how to get around our very old and out-dated power grid.

I am NOT political but I am merely identifying a root source of our problems, which is that many of our “law-makers” are also old and antiquated, and are struck in a way of thinking that is decades too outdated.

Here’s one good example of how we are not keeping up with what’s really going on … we are NOT going into global warming but we are turning into a Mini Ice Age based on the solar cycle and a weakening magnetic field.

We needed to begin alternative energies decades ago, but our legislators did not invest in it.

The US Capital building
Many of our law-makers are as old and antiquated as their energy solutions.

It is not wise to just stop using oil and gas or clean coal until we have used it to help make a transition into better alternative powers. Did you know that the electric grid runs off oil? Windmills require oil. Hydroelectric runs off oil.

Eventually we must move from oil to another source, such as plasma or steam, but we have not prepared for a transition like this yet. Wind and solar cannot handle our power grid needs alone. The windmills are shut off right now because the blades are covered in ice.

We must introduce other advanced energies such as plasma and geo-thermal, but again our law-makers are old and out-dated and do not think progressively.

GLOBAL DIFFERENCES

Earth question symbol represented by a world globe model with a geographic shape of a mark questioning the state of the environment the international economy and political situation.
Every location on the planet is different and requires different energy solutions.

Learn all that you can about alternative energy but also recognize that we must adopt different alternatives locally/depending on where you live – there is NO global system or “one solution that fits everyone” because every place/latitude/ecosystem on our planet is different and requires different solutions.

Some countries use hydro-electric power, some solar, some wind, some geo-thermal – the country of Iceland is 97% powered by geothermal from its volcanos.

Global humans haven’t even tried new energies yet because politics has gotten in our way. Times like now are ripe for new inventions – not lock-downs and Brown-Outs. These are antiquated solutions to a progressing problem – it’s time to get with real future solutions.

Stay positive and think like a prepper for a better future!!

Hint: When Spring comes, consider making a garden, no matter how small – it’s time to return to some basics again.

Global Cooling – Major Ice Storm Ahead

A picture of the ice melting in Antarctica
Arctic ice melting at the same time it is beginning to refreeze due to a Mini-Ice Age..

Today, global warming is a trend, but is it accurate?

No.

Our planet is heading into a natural cooling cycle – as a matter of fact, we are entering a Mini-Ice Age.

February 2021 will be one of the best examples of this, so get out your parka and gloves. Prepare to shovel lots of snow off your roof in the higher latitudes.

Head’s Up

A blizzard
The entire Northern Hemisphere will experience record winter storms this week.

There is a BIG winter storm coming this week, and it should cover most of the Northern Hemisphere by the 10th and 11th of February.

We are moving into a mini-Ice Age, and because our magnetic field is weakening, the cold air will start sliding down from the North Pole and cover the continents in the Northern Hemisphere. Ice will form on the continents, forming new glaciers as opposed to forming within the waters of the Arctic.

Right now, it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and summer in the Southern Hemisphere, so warm air will travel north from Antarctica. This balances the Earth’s temperature as the north gets colder.

One side of both the Arctic and Antarctic regions will begin to melt, while the “other” side of these polar areas will form thicker ice sheets due to their position to the Sun and a weakening magnetic field.

This winter storm will be a doozy, and again, is an example of the Earth changes of global cooling.

Stay safe and warm. And get your snow shovel out.

This new fad called climate change is steering us in the wrong direction.

What’s wrong with working together with other countries?

Every country around the world has different natural resources, from oil and gas to gold and silver.

Instead of creating revolutions and wars so the most powerful country can steal these resources, let’s start working together in peace for the benefit of the entire world.

Come on rulers of the world – let’s start working together in peace and prosperity for all.

I’ve had it with these protests.

Not only are the adults in the room teaching our children the wrong message to protest with anger, we are NOT teaching the solutions to human environmental pollution, and we are NOT teaching the differences between man-made environmental pollution and NATURAL planetary changes.

Instead of teaching students to be angry and to protest, teach them how to gather together for positive changes – teach them to clean up the trash in our cities, help them plant trees, and show them how to love this planet as opposed to spreading hate and negativity.

All animals on the planet know that if you take, you put something back. Well, every animal except the human being.

It’s an easy thing to do people – if you take something from the environment, simply replace it with something else that’s natural, so the ecosystem can flourish.

Ask yourself WHY do we harvest resources from the natural environment, and WHAT resources do we harvest?

When we remove natural resources, we need to always put another natural resource back in that place.

  1. Convert an old gold mine into a lake.
  2. Replant a tree for every tress that’s cut down.
  3. Don’t remove trees when building a housing development – build around the trees.
  4. Use hemp as opposed to plastic and fuel.
  5. Recycle everything.
  6. Make trash removal and landfills FREE.

Always replace what you remove from Nature.
